Timetable effective 26 May 2026 (Transport Department). Monday to Friday is shown by default; the Saturday and the Sunday and public holiday tables switch in automatically. Small-hours sailings belong to the date shown.

Discovery Bay North pontoon Only the sailings named in the notes under each direction serve the pontoon at Discovery Bay North, always by way of the main Discovery Bay pier. The Transport Department's 25-minute journey time is for Central to the main pier; no separate time is published for the North leg.

Kaito boats from Nim Shue Wan The Tsui Wah Ferry kaito to Peng Chau and the Trappist Monastery, and the Peng Chau Kai To boat to Mui Wo via Peng Chau, board at the Nim Shue Wan Landing Steps on Marina Drive, not at Discovery Bay Ferry Pier. Their times and fares are separate and not on this board.

Typhoons and rainstorms This board shows the published timetable, not live running. Tropical cyclone signals and rainstorm warnings can stop or thin out sailings, and the Transport Department and operators announce special arrangements when that happens.

Single fares from the Transport Department fare table for this licensed route. Visitors pay the same adult fare (HK$55.80) in cash or with a non-registered Octopus card; children aged 1 to 11 and passengers aged 65 or over pay HK$27.90; under-ones travel free with an adult. The cheaper resident fares apply only with an Octopus card registered with Discovery Bay Services Management Limited for Discovery Bay residents. The Transport Card is a stored-trip ticket of 20 trips, valid for 60 days from issue or from the last reload. The HK$30 helper fare is a concession for foreign domestic helpers employed by Discovery Bay residents, on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, with a valid helper card issued by the operator. All fares in Hong Kong dollars (HKD).

Discovery Bay Transportation Services runs this licensed ferry between Central Pier 3, on Man Kwong Street, and Discovery Bay Ferry Pier at Plaza Lane on Lantau Island. The Transport Department puts the crossing at about 25 minutes. A few boats also start from, or carry on to, a pontoon at Discovery Bay North; that 25-minute figure is for the main pier only.

The timetable in force since 26 May 2026 comes in three versions: Monday to Friday, Saturday, and Sundays with public holidays. A holiday that lands on a weekday or a Saturday takes the Sunday table, and the board on this page changes over by itself. Each table opens with departures shortly after midnight that count as part of that date, so a 00:30 listed for Saturday is the boat you would board late on Friday night.

What you pay depends on who you are, not on how you pay. A visitor's adult single is HK$55.80 whether you hand over cash or tap an ordinary Octopus card. Children aged 1 to 11 and passengers aged 65 or over pay HK$27.90, and babies under one ride free with an adult. The lower fares, starting at HK$38.20 for an adult, need an Octopus card registered for Discovery Bay residents with Discovery Bay Services Management Limited; a personalised Octopus from anywhere else does not count.

Discovery Bay North gets only a handful of sailings. On weekdays two morning boats leave the pontoon there for Central and two evening boats from Central continue there; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays there are four in each direction. All of them stop at the main pier as well, and the notes under the board say which ones they are.

Not every boat in Discovery Bay leaves from the plaza. Tsui Wah Ferry's kaito to Peng Chau and the Trappist Monastery, and Peng Chau Kai To's route to Mui Wo via Peng Chau, use the Nim Shue Wan Landing Steps on Marina Drive and have their own fares. The route details published for this ferry say nothing about wheelchair access, so ask at the pier before relying on step-free boarding.

  • Be at the pier before departure; on some routes the time shown is when the pier gate closes.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — typhoon signals, strong winds and rainstorm warnings can suspend or change sailings.
  • Bicycles, pets and large luggage have their own rules and charges on some routes; check before you travel.
