Timetable published by HKKF, in force from 1 April 2026. Monday to Saturday is the default; the Sunday and public holiday table switches in by date. HKKF times are when the pier gate closes.

Freight, luggage and bicycles The Transport Department table allows freight on all sailings, with advance booking for large items. HKKF's own timetable is stricter: sailings shown in braces take no freight except bicycles and small hand-carried items with a freight ticket, and sailings marked with a triangle take only small quantities. One suitcase up to 60 × 30 × 80 cm per passenger is free. Bicycles can go on any sailing for a fare, but HKKF may leave an unbooked bike for a later boat. Call HKKF on +852 2815 6063 before moving anything large.

Kaito to Discovery Bay and Mui Wo Boats from Peng Chau to Discovery Bay (Tsui Wah Ferry, also via the Trappist Monastery) and to Mui Wo (Peng Chau Kai To) use Peng Chau Public Pier on Lo Peng Street, not the HKKF ferry pier. They have separate timetables and fares.

Typhoons and bad weather HKKF says its schedule may change without prior notice. Tropical cyclone signals and rainstorm warnings can suspend sailings; HKKF posts service notices in the News section of its website.

Fares from 1 April 2026, as listed by HKKF and the Transport Department. Sundays and public holidays carry a higher single fare than Monday to Saturday; a public holiday on a Saturday counts as a holiday. Children from 3 to under 12, people aged 65 or over and people with disabilities pay the concession fare on proof of eligibility, and the Government's $2 Scheme can be used with an eligible Octopus or JoyYou Card. The same-day and holiday return tickets are valid only when the first trip starts at Peng Chau. The monthly ticket covers one Central–Peng Chau round trip a day; the 10-trip multi-ride ticket is valid for up to 90 days. Freight costs HK$161.30 per cubic metre (Transport Department table). All fares in Hong Kong dollars (HKD).

Peng Chau's link to Central is a licensed route run by Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry (HKKF). In Central you board at the western berth of Pier 6 on Man Kwong Street; on the island the boat ties up at Peng Chau Ferry Pier on Lo Peng Street. The Transport Department gives the trip as about 25 to 30 minutes. Since 1 April 2026 the route has no slower ordinary-ferry sailings: the Transport Department announced that all of them were upgraded to fast ferries, together with new fares.

HKKF publishes one timetable for Monday to Saturday and another for Sundays and public holidays. The holiday version also covers a holiday that falls on a Saturday or a weekday, and the board on this page swaps tables on those dates. Both lists include a departure from Central at about 3 a.m. and one from Peng Chau shortly after, plus a boat from Central at 00:30 that the official table counts as the next calendar day. HKKF's printed times are gate-closing times, and its rules say that once you pass the gate you are committed to that sailing.

The day of the week also sets the fare. An adult single costs HK$31.90 from Monday to Saturday and HK$46.60 on Sundays and public holidays, with children aged 3 to 11, people aged 65 or over and people with disabilities paying roughly half. The HK$44.70 same-day and holiday returns are built for islanders, because the first leg has to start at Peng Chau. Regular commuters can buy a monthly ticket at HK$730, limited to one round trip a day, or a 10-trip multi-ride ticket at HK$188.

Some boats do not end their trip at Peng Chau: HKKF marks sailings whose second leg runs on to Hei Ling Chau, and passengers for that island simply stay aboard. The kaito boats from Peng Chau to Discovery Bay and Mui Wo leave from Peng Chau Public Pier, a different landing on the same street.

For a walk on arrival, HKKF describes the Peng Chau section of the Islands Nature Heritage Trail, set up by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department with the Islands District Council. It has a northbound and a southbound loop from the ferry pier, passing sights such as the Tin Hau Temple and Finger Hill, and takes about three hours in all.

  • Be at the pier before departure; on some routes the time shown is when the pier gate closes.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — typhoon signals, strong winds and rainstorm warnings can suspend or change sailings.
  • Bicycles, pets and large luggage have their own rules and charges on some routes; check before you travel.
