Star Ferry publishes intervals, not individual departure times. Transport Department table effective 3 April 2023: one pattern for Monday to Saturday (except public holidays) and one for Sundays and public holidays. · Representative sailings only — check the operator for today's full timetable

Bicycles on the lower deck Bicycles are carried on this route only, at HK$25 each. Star Ferry puts them on the lower deck, which does not carry passengers on the Wan Chai crossing, and takes at most ten per ferry.

Wheelchair users Star Ferry says wheelchair users board from the lower deck, up to four per ferry. On this route the lower deck is not a passenger deck, so call Star Ferry on +852 2118 6213 to confirm how boarding works before you travel.

Sea conditions and weather Star Ferry warns that actual sailing times vary with marine traffic, sea and weather conditions and vessel deployment. Tropical cyclone signals and rainstorm warnings can suspend or change sailings; check Star Ferry's Latest News before setting out.

Star Ferry from Central Star Ferry's other route runs from Central Pier 7 to the same Tsim Sha Tsui pier, with its own frequencies and upper- and lower-deck fares. It is not on this board.

Fares from the Transport Department and Star Ferry tables, in force until 24 January 2027. The fare week is not the timetable week: Saturday is charged at the weekend fare although boats run to the Monday–Saturday pattern. The concession fare is for children aged 3 to under 12, holders of a Registration Card for People with Disabilities, and passengers aged 65 or over who show a Hong Kong Identity Card, Senior Citizen Card or equivalent proof of age and pay with a Personalized or Elder Octopus. Star Ferry adds that JoyYou Card holders pay HK$2 a trip under the Government's $2 Scheme. Children under 3 travel free with a passenger aged 12 or over; Star Ferry allows two per fare-paying adult, up to 95 cm tall and without a seat. The monthly ticket is valid for the current calendar month only. The tourist ticket covers unlimited rides on this route and on Central–Tsim Sha Tsui for four consecutive days counting the day of issue, and is only for people admitted to Hong Kong as visitors. New fares start on 25 January 2027. All fares in Hong Kong dollars (HKD).

Wan Chai Ferry Pier, on Hung Hing Road, has one Star Ferry service: a crossing to the Star Ferry Pier on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The Star Ferry Company runs it as a franchised route, and the Transport Department gives the journey time as about 8 minutes. You simply turn up: Star Ferry does not reserve seats.

Instead of a list of departures, the Transport Department publishes time bands with an interval for each, in a table that has applied since 3 April 2023. On weekdays the gap between boats is 8 minutes in the morning and early-evening peaks and 12 minutes through most of the day, widening late in the evening. Sundays and public holidays have a slower morning, with a boat every 20 minutes until around 1 pm. The board on this page shows the band that applies on each date rather than a countdown to the next boat.

Saturdays follow two different rules. The timetable treats Saturday as a weekday, so the Monday-to-Saturday bands apply, but the fare table groups it with Sunday. An adult pays HK$5 from Monday to Friday and HK$6.50 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Children aged 3 to 11, holders of a Registration Card for People with Disabilities, and passengers aged 65 or over who show proof of age and pay with a Personalized or Elder Octopus pay HK$2.90 or HK$3.90. Star Ferry also lists a HK$2 fare for JoyYou Card holders under the Government's $2 Scheme. Children under 3 ride free, up to two per fare-paying adult.

Of the two Star Ferry routes, this is the one that takes bicycles. A bike costs HK$25 and rides on the lower deck, which on this crossing carries no passengers; the limit is ten per ferry. The same lower deck is where Star Ferry boards wheelchair users, so ask the company (+852 2118 6213) how that works at Wan Chai before you count on it.

Fares rise on 25 January 2027, following Executive Council approval announced by the Transport and Logistics Bureau: the adult fare becomes HK$6 on weekdays and HK$8.30 at weekends and on holidays, and a bicycle HK$30. The monthly ticket stays at HK$190, while the four-day tourist ticket, valid on both routes, goes up from HK$50 to HK$60.

  • Be at the pier before departure; on some routes the time shown is when the pier gate closes.
  • Check the operator's notices on the day — typhoon signals, strong winds and rainstorm warnings can suspend or change sailings.
  • Bicycles, pets and large luggage have their own rules and charges on some routes; check before you travel.
